I have distinct memory of making the most hideous Father's Day cards for my dad when I
was younger. This Charred Plum French Toast is a remarkable improvement on that. It
would actually make my father, who has been a professional confectionery chef for 35+
years, proud.
After all, this doesn't just look good - but tastes lovely and light as well. The soft, the crunch, the tart and the sweet, all coming together in one single bite - your
perfect brunch treat this Father's Day.
Let me take you through the steps!

Ingredients
Bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- A pinch of cinnamon powder
- 1 tbsp honey
- A pinch of salt
Crunchy Oats
- Rolled oats
- Brown sugar
Charred Plum
- Sliced plums
- Brown sugar
And
- Bread
- Gramiyaa Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Yogurt
Method
The recipe itself is quite simple.
Step 1: In a pan, heat some Gramiyaa Olive Oil, then sizzle the sliced plums on it. Once they start showing colour, add brown sugar and let it sizzle a bit more.
Step 2: Follow a very similar procedure with the oats, until they're crunchy.
Step 3: Mix the ingredients together for the dip in the French toast, and dip the slices of bread in it. These pieces then get toasted in the pan on some Gramiyaa Olive Oil. Cook both sides well for 2-3 minutes each.
Step 4: Now all you do is assemble your masterpiece.
It starts with the bread, then a generous layer of yogurt. This is topped with rhe sweet
charred plum slices, and all of this is finished with the crunchy bits.
Serve this with a nice cup of coffee, or stiff tea, and you've got yourself the perfect treat!
