Frequently Asked Questions About Cold Pressed Coconut Oil

Is this coconut oil for cooking or for hair and skin?
This wood pressed coconut oil is made and packaged for cooking, sautéing, baking, and slow-cooking.
Why does the coconut oil turn solid/cloudy? Has it gone bad?
That's completely normal. Coconut oil naturally solidifies below around 24°C because of its fat composition. It turns clear and liquid again once it warms up to room temperature or is gently heated.
What's the difference between this Cold Pressed Coconut Oil and your Virgin Coconut Oil?
The difference starts with how each is made. This Cold Pressed Coconut Oil comes from sun-dried copra, crushed directly in wood and stone mills to extract the oil. Virgin Coconut Oil is made from fresh coconuts, where coconut milk is extracted first and the oil is then separated from it. This gives the two oils different flavour profiles and best uses: this cold pressed coconut oil has a mild coconutty taste suited to sautéing, baking, and slow-cooking, while the Virgin Coconut Oil has a sweeter, more pronounced coconut flavour suited to baking, gentle roasting, and dressings.
Can I use it for deep frying?
Yes. Deep frying is typically done around 177°C, and this oil's smoke point of 190°C is above that, so it holds up well for deep frying too, along with sautéing, baking, and slow-cooking.
Will it give a strong coconut smell or taste to my food?
No, it has a mild, coconutty flavour that's meant to complement your cooking rather than dominate it. It elevates the dish without overpowering other flavours.
Is coconut oil healthy for daily cooking with all that saturated fat?
This coconut oil is unrefined, cold pressed, and free of trans fats and preservatives. As with any cooking oil, we recommend using it in moderation and rotating between different oils rather than relying on just one. For specific questions about saturated fat and your daily diet, we'd recommend checking with a nutritionist, since that depends on individual health needs.
How is this different from the cheap refined coconut oil in supermarkets?
Refined coconut oil is processed with high heat and chemical bleaching, which strips out much of its natural aroma and nutrients, and it's often blended from multiple, untraceable sources. This wood pressed coconut oil is single cold pressed in-house, below 50°C, with no chemical processing or blending.
Is it 100% pure, or is it blended/adulterated?
The ingredient list is just one item: coconut oil. Every batch is pressed in-house and lab-tested, so it's never blended from unknown or third-party sources. You can verify this yourself by tracing the batch at trace.gramiyaa.com.
What is the shelf life and how should I store it?
It has a shelf life of 9 months from the date of packing. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, and keep the cap closed between uses to maintain freshness. It's best to keep the oil in the same container it arrives in, since the pack is opaque and designed to keep the oil fresh.
Will it arrive fresh, and what if the pack is damaged in transit?
Orders are from fresh batches and shipped within 24 hours. If your pack arrives damaged, Gramiyaa offers a 7-day free exchange.
How much oil is in the pack and how long will it last for a family?
This coconut oil is available in a 1L and 500 mL pack. How long it lasts depends on your household's cooking habits. If coconut oil is your primary cooking oil, a rough guide is about 1L per person per month, so usage will vary based on family size and how often you cook.
